Pain Care and Screening Information
Please tell us when the pain began, its location and intensity, factors that worsen or relieve it, and any medications you take. Depending on your symptoms, an emergency evaluation or care at another medical institution may be necessary.
What types of pain can I consult about?
We provide consultations for various types of pain, including back, neck, and joint pain; pain related to shingles; gout; abdominal and chest pain; rib injuries; and symptoms related to disc problems. To distinguish whether the cause of pain is an internal medicine condition or a musculoskeletal problem, we take a medical history and perform a physical examination, then determine the necessary tests and referrals.
Why is pain evaluated comprehensively?
Pain may be related not only to problems with the spine, muscles, joints, or nerves, but also to internal medicine conditions. We also consider posture, repetitive work, lack of exercise, weight, eating habits, sleep, and stress. We do not determine the cause based only on symptoms in a specific area; we evaluate the course of the pain and your overall condition.
How are treatment and ongoing management provided?
Depending on the results of consultations and examinations, we consider necessary treatments such as medication and injections, as well as lifestyle changes. For chronic pain, we manage the underlying condition and functional status together while monitoring treatment effectiveness and adverse reactions. Because the causes and course differ from patient to patient, we establish an individualized plan and, when necessary, coordinate care with other departments or medical institutions.
What can I do in my daily life?
Practice regular exercise appropriate for your condition, maintain good posture when using a computer or mobile phone, and maintain an appropriate weight and balanced diet. Getting enough sleep, managing stress, and using ergonomic tools when needed may also help. Tell us during your consultation which activities worsen the pain, and ask about the appropriate exercise intensity and methods.
What examinations and costs are included in the comprehensive pain screening?
The comprehensive pain screening costs 300,000원. It includes height, weight, blood pressure, X-rays of the entire spine or the painful area, 17 basic blood tests including 12 CBC items and 5 white blood cell differential items, and 18 detailed blood tests related to the liver, kidneys, pancreas, blood glucose, inflammation, and rheumatism. Depending on the painful area and consultation results, you may choose one of the following imaging tests: non-contrast cervical, thoracic, or lumbar spine CT; contrast-enhanced abdominal CT; or ultrasound of the painful area. The option using a contrast agent requires an additional 120,000원. Confirm the actual scope of testing and estimated cost when making your appointment.
What items are included in the detailed blood tests?
The tests include liver-related total protein, albumin, globulin, A/G ratio, total bilirubin, AST, ALT, and gamma-GTP; kidney-related BUN, creatinine, B/C ratio, and uric acid; pancreas-related amylase and lipase; fasting blood glucose; CRP; and rheumatism-related qualitative RA and ANA tests. Confirm with the medical staff which items are included in the screening program and which tests are necessary for an individual consultation.
Which types of pain require immediate emergency care?
For sudden or severe chest pain or shortness of breath, decreased consciousness, neurological symptoms such as paralysis, pain after severe trauma, or abdominal pain that rapidly worsens, call 119 or seek emergency care immediately. If you have these symptoms, do not wait until the date of your regular screening appointment.
